Summerill & Bishop was founded by lifelong best friends June Summerill and Bernadette Bishop, who opened their first shop on 18th May 1994 on a quiet, leafy corner of Clarendon Cross in Notting Hill. The starting point was practical frustration: both were devoted home cooks and hosts who found themselves unable to find kitchen and tableware in London that matched how seriously they took the table. They wanted a shop that felt like a home. So they built one. 

When they started out, their greatest challenge was making the tablecloth relevant again — an item largely seen as unnecessary, undesirable and old fashioned. Thirty years later, their 100% linen designs are on tables across the world, and the tablecloth they championed has become one of the defining objects of considered entertaining. Following Bernadette's passing, her son Seb Bishop stepped in as CEO and Creative Director, determined to honour what his mother and June had built. 

We carry Summerill & Bishop because their linen is the standard everything else is measured against. Patterns that are unique and sophisticated but fun. Linen that feels luxurious and timeless. Tablecloths that get us excited to set the table and gather around it. This is not decorative linen. It is linen made to be used and loved.
