Jean Roger Paris - The Voyage Dubai

Jean Roger Paris
Paris, France

Maison Jean Roger has been at the heart of Parisian ceramic life since the early 1950s, when its founder — a young potter with an instinct for the bold and the unexpected — began producing pieces that caught the attention of Christian Dior and Jackie Kennedy. The vocabulary he established — animals, exotic fruits, trompe-l'oeil surfaces, forms that sit somewhere between functional object and decorative sculpture — has remained the house signature across three generations.

Today François Roger, grandson of the founder, runs the workshop alongside his sister Marguerite, having learned the craft from both his grandfather and his father before him. He has added his own contribution: a special enamel coating perfected over years, whose formula remains a closely guarded secret, lending the pieces an unusual depth and luminosity. Every piece is still handmade in their Paris atelier.

There is a particular kind of French decorative object that manages to be both serious and playful at the same time — deeply referential to art history, completely unafraid of wit. Jean Roger Paris makes exactly that. The frogs, the artichokes, the flamme bowls — these are pieces that hold their own in any room without demanding it.
