The Voyage Dubai began with a simple belief: the objects we choose to surround ourselves with should mean something and bring us joy.

We travel. We look for the pieces that stop us mid-step in a market stall or a small studio, work that carries the hand of the person who made it. Ceramics thrown in Seville and Puglia. Table linen woven in Tangier. Lacquerware finished by hand in Vietnam. Porcelain painted in a Notting Hill studio. Every piece carries its origin with it and we only bring home the ones we'd want to live with ourselves.

Coming to TVD isn't about arriving with a list. It's closer to stepping into a small shop you found by accident while away, not knowing what you were looking for until something stopped you. That's the point. We're not chasing what's already everywhere. We're looking for the piece nobody else in the room will have.

Here's the theory the shop runs on. If you are going to shop for a bowl, glassware, or anything else for your home, why settle for the version that arrived on a whim and will be gone in a year? We much prefer to choose the pieces we actually love and want to keep, possibly pass on one day. Buy less. Buy better. Hold onto it for good.

The same goes for gifts. A piece with a real story behind it says so much more than something that was picked and wrapped in a hurry.
