The glassblowing tradition of Syria is one of the oldest in the world — a craft practised in Damascus and Aleppo for thousands of years, where skilled makers have shaped molten glass by breath and hand across countless generations. It is a skill passed down within families, demonstrated rather than written down, and it has survived upheavals that ended far steadier trades.

The pieces we carry come from an enterprise built to bring Syrian glass to a wider market — to open new markets for the artisans, help them sustain their families, and renew a sense of value in work that risked being lost. Founded by a Frenchman who lived in Damascus and befriended the glassblowers near his home, it grew from friendship before it was ever a business.

Each piece is individually mouth-blown from recycled glass, which means no two are alike — slight differences in shape, thickness and colour from one to the next. That variation is not a flaw. It is the mark of something made entirely by hand, in one of the most fragile living crafts anywhere. These are vessels that carry a story as well as their contents.
