Laetitia Rouget grew up inside the ceramics industry, born into a family of porcelain manufacturers, before studying art at Central Saint Martins in London and moving through fashion design, print and textiles before arriving at ceramics. That circuitous route shows in the work: these are not the pieces of someone who learned only one discipline. The colours reference the landscapes and cultures of her adopted home in Lisbon and her travels; the slogans carry a wit that feels French; the forms nod to Portugal's own deep pottery tradition.

Each piece is handcrafted in small batches by local ceramicists working to her designs. The combinations are harder to pull off than they look, bold illustration, glazed in vivid colour, with text that catches you off guard. Most attempts at this register tip into novelty. Hers don't.
