The beauty of Paper Mirchi products lies in the story, the process and the people behind it.
Rani, the founder, who herself grew up in India, has always been fascinated by the rich cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship of the country.
In a modern world overflowing with technology and fast production, Paper Mirchi seeks to keep age-tested processes alive and celebrate the beauty of handmade products.
Paper making is an ancient skill in India. The artisans are incredibly passionate about their craft which has been passed down through generations. The cotton rags and textile scraps are chopped, pulped and dyed and spread over a mesh screen. The cellulose rich fibres then bind together to form the paper. Excess water is squeezed out and each sheet is hung out to dry. The sheets are then pressed in a calendering machine to smooth out the creases.
The team at Paper Mirchi work closely with small family-run units in India. All the products are made using 100% recycled cotton rag paper and go through a slow and thoughtful process, from conception in the London studio to execution in the historic state of Rajasthan.
Paper Mirchi blends design and colour trends with traditional artistry to create a timeless range of handcrafted papers and greeting cards to love and cherish.
Over the past six years, this small business has grown from strength to strength, winning multiple awards.
